Bushiken Karate is a traditional Japanese martial art developed from the teachings of Soshu Shigeru Oyama. Bushiken Karate offers classes for all ages and ability levels 6 days/week.

Our style stays true to its roots, with continual evolutions to have practical use as the modern world changes. Classes will give you the opportunity to push yourself to whatever limits you set, with every safety precaution in place to ensure you can keep coming back for more.

We believe in the results of real training, so every rank is earned through serious training and rigorous testing. We are a full-contact karate style; everything we practice is designed to have practical effect. Training includes full-contact sparring, heavy bag work, and more to help you develop real-world skills.

Our organization hosts fighting and kata tournaments twice per year and also competes in other organizations’ local and international competitions. Our tournaments have full-contact, semi-knockdown competitions, not point-system sparring.

We also instruct women’s self-defense courses, host training seminars for school and youth groups, perform demonstrations at events, run an after school program, and have kids’ summer camps.

Karate training has many benefits beyond self-defense training, and can help you in many aspects of life. Watch as you and your loved ones develop:

  • Self-confidence
  • Physical fitness
  • Respect for self and others
  • Discipline
  • Focus of the mind
  • Patience

And much more!

We believe that karate is for everyone, and put the spirit of the art above all else. We do not lock you into long-term contracts, and we do not charge first-time visitors for trying a class. Come see for yourself what karate training can do for you.
